Alba Brugueras Fabre holds a bachelor's and master's degree in Economics from the University of Puerto Rico, doctoral studies in International Business from the same institution, and a Ph.D. in Language Research from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. She has worked for nearly 20 years as an economist and consultant in economic affairs and market studies. She was president of the Association of Economists of Puerto Rico and has served on boards of other non-profit organizations. Currently, she works as a professor at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her main areas of interest and research include economic development, foreign investment, labor market, entrepreneurship, sustainable development, and gender equity. She has presented at local and international conferences where she has been invited to be a keynote speaker, and is an evaluator of research papers through various committees. In addition, she participated in the publication Post-disaster economy and development: Voices of women economists from Puerto Rico for the Latin American Council of Social Sciences [CLACSO] published in 2023.
