Federal Aid Available
Primary Requirement: Complete the Federal Application for Financial Aid (FAFSA)
By successfully completing the FAFSA 26-27 form, you may be eligible for:
Pell Grant
- Maximum contribution $3,698 per semester
- Copy of the 2024 tax return or proof of income
Supplementary Scholarship
(FSEOG)
- Available to high school students eligible for Pell Grants and with the greatest financial need
- Maximum contribution - $300 per semester
Subsidized Loans
The federal government guarantees the loan and pays the interest while participants are studying more than half-time, enjoying a grace period, or during a deferment period.
Unsubsidized Loan
- This loan accrues interest while the student is enrolled and during the grace period (6 months).
- Maximum contribution $1,000 per semester
Study and Work
- $10.50 (on campus) or $11.75 (off campus) per hour, maximum 150 hours per semester
FAFSA 26-27 is now available
The FAFSA 26-27 form is available. To complete the form you need:
- Social Security number
- Tax return filed for the year 2024 (if applicable).
- Form W2 or 480 (if applicable)
- The code of Sagrado is: 003937
FAFSA Simplification Act
The FAFSA Simplification Act is the first significant change to the FAFSA financial aid application in 40 years.
- The FAFSA is shorter and quicker to complete.
- The application had a reduction in the number of questions (It currently has around 40 questions).
- The application changes are expected to result in more federal financial aid awarded and greater eligibility for students.
- An estimated 930,000 additional students will be eligible for PELL grants under the new formula.
New changes to the FAFSA:
Significant changes and eligibility include:
- Transfer of income data directly from the IRS (in cases where you have a US tax return).
- Simplification of questions aimed at determining the dependency status of the student in unusual circumstances (orphans, homeless students).
- Remove the names of family members who attend college.
- The replacement of the EFC or Family Contribution Index by the SAI or Support Index.
- The minimum SAI value is not 0. It can have a negative value (-1,500).
Roles in Completing the FAFSA
New FAFSA application
The new FAFSA adds the new term "taxpayer" to refer to any person who must provide information and sign the application. All taxpayers must:
- Complete an FSA ID account.
- Access the FAFSA and provide your consent to upload or export your financial information directly from the IRS.
- Complete your section of the form within 45 days of receiving the request.

The new FAFSA form will allow you to:
- List up to 20 colleges to receive your shared FAFSA information.
- Import your information directly from the IRS, if you completed a US tax return
- Know what your dependency status will be when answering the questions.
- Send an invitation to the contributors who will help you complete the form.
- Receive PELL funds based on the exact number of credits enrolled.
Academic load and the new FAFSA
New distribution of academic load and payment of PELL Grant. The amount of PELL granted will be the percentage of enrollment intensity that represents the number of credits enrolled.
