The Emilio S. Belaval Theater of the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón Its mission is to present stage performances, musical concerts, conferences, symposia, film events, educational and recreational activities, along with other academic and cultural activities that complement the comprehensive training of both the students of the institution and our university and general community.
The dramatic arts were incorporated as a fundamental part of comprehensive education and
humanistic project of the Sagrado Corazón.
The first productions were put on by the College's Drama Club, which was then exclusively for young ladies, using the now-defunct Auditorium of the Boarding School as a venue.
The so-called College Auditorium was inaugurated, marking the beginning of university theatre in the country.
The College Auditorium was closed for an initial renovation that took ten years.
The iconic space reopened and was christened with its current name in homage to Puerto Rican playwright Emilio S. Belaval.
When the University already had a Bachelor's degree in Theatre, the space underwent its most recent remodeling.
The Emilio S. Belaval Theater reopened its doors with a ceremony that featured a display of artistic performances by students from Sagrado.
