Aurorisa Mateo is the Academic Leader of Design and Visual Culture at the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón Corazón. She is also an architect, designer, researcher of Puerto Rican and Latin American design, professor and consultant in technical design of objects and packaging. She holds a master's degree in architecture from the Architectural Association in London, United Kingdom and a bachelor's degree in environmental design from the School of Architecture of the University of Puerto Rico.

Previously, she was an associate professor and founding dean of the International School of Design and Architecture at UAGM, Gurabo campus. When she is not designing, she is baking bread and pizza or practicing fencing.
