OUR MISSION
What is the Community Engagement Program?
The Community Engagement program facilitates service-learning (S-L) experiences with the purpose of:
- Responding to real problems or community needs.
- Strengthening students' knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- To participate in a supportive manner in the different social contexts of our country.
- To provide concrete solutions and social responsibility actions.
This learning approach facilitates professional experiences and strengthens civic responsibility skills. Students also contribute their knowledge and skills for the benefit of the community, fostering proactive collaboration for its improvement.
METHODOLOGY
Service Learning (A+S)
It is a teaching method that integrates theory and practice. Each student has the opportunity to apply what they have learned in class in an external setting. Students interact with community-based organizations, non-profit entities, local (micro)businesses, and agencies that provide services in underserved communities. As a result, students immerse themselves in real-world learning scenarios where they confront the challenges of our society and their profession.

Our Story
1994
Sagrado adopts the service-learning methodology through community service
1999
The Community Engagement program is created
2008
For the first time, the institution received the "President's Higher Education Community Service" award. It was previously received in 2011, 2013, and 2017.
2008
Sagrado for the first time obtains the Carnegie Foundation's Community Engagement elective certification.
2023
All academic programs of Sagrado They have at least one A+S experience for their students
2026
Sagrado is recertified again with the Carnegie Foundation's Community Engagement elective certification.
