Brenda Torres-Velasquez, Ph.D.


Professor Brenda Torres-Velásquez holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences from the Ana G. Mendez University and a Master's degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus. She has worked at the Institute of Economics, Geography and Demography (IEGD) in Madrid, Spain; she has been a professor at different universities in Puerto Rico teaching statistics and mathematics and statistics and data analysis for business administration since 2009 and is part of the faculty of Sagrado Global – University of the Sagrado, specializing in Data Sciences. She currently works as a biostatistician at the Alakaina Foundation, working in scientific research in the area of ​​Public Health, specifically in vector-borne diseases in Puerto Rico, and has several scientific articles in her portfolio in which she appears as co-author. Her research interest is in the area of ​​data sciences applied to life sciences (life sciences): medicine, environmental, public health; and the area of ​​business administration and business using R and RStudio as a tool for data analysis.
