Our collaborative agreement with Ross University and its School of Medicine in Barbados is established to increase the chances of admission of our students from the School of Health and Sciences to the School of Medicine. Eligible students in the School of Health and Science must be completing or have completed their Bachelor of Science degree and meet the course requirements for admission. Students applying to Ross University School of Medicine will have the following benefits: no application fee for admission to the medical program, a guaranteed interview with the School of Medicine, and no requirement to take the MCAT (they will be referred to take another standardized test). All students eligible for admission to the program qualify for a 2-day trip to the University to learn about its facilities and, if admitted, may be considered for a scholarship for housing, a scholarship to cover their first semester of medical studies, and other financial benefits.

Requirements for students of Sagrado:

  • A minimum GPA of 3.25 is recommended in science courses.
  • Minimum score of 490 on the MCAT.
  • Two letters of recommendation.
  • Required courses:
    • One year of General Biology with Laboratories (BIO 111 and BIO 112)
    • One year of General Chemistry with Laboratories (QUI 101 and QUI 102)
    • One year of Organic Chemistry with Laboratories (QUI 301 and QUI 302)
    • One year of English (GCM 102 and GCM 201)
    • A Mathematics course (Calculus, MAT 201 or Statistics, MAT 210)
  • Ross does not require the MCAT, students who do not have it may be referred by RUSM to take the Medical Education Readiness Program (MERP).
  • Students identified by Sagrado as eligible may qualify for:
    • Two-night trip to RUSM to experience the facilities.
    • Once admitted to the institution, they will be eligible to receive a scholarship to cover their accommodation costs (The Villages at Coverley).
