John Anthony Olmo Soto, Ph.D., He is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry in 1985. In 1986 he began a Master's degree in Chemistry at the same campus under the supervision of Dr. Basil H. Vassos, a degree he completed in June 1991.
Following his master's studies, he served for two years as a full-time instructor at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. He also taught part-time at Universidad del Sagrado Corazón from January to May 1992, where he taught Instrumental Chemical Analysis, and at the University of Puerto Rico, Cayey Campus, from August 1992 through May 1993, teaching General Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and their associated laboratory courses. From 1993 to 1995, he worked as a chemical analyst at Chelsea Laboratories Inc.

In August 1995, he resumed his doctoral studies at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, under the supervision of Dr. Osvaldo Rosario, successfully defending his doctoral dissertation in October 2002. He returned to Universidad del Sagrado Corazón as a part-time summer faculty member in 1998 and joined the institution as a full-time Assistant Professor in 2002. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2008 and to Full Professor in 2013. He has now served for more than two decades as a full-time Chemistry professor at Universidad del Sagrado Corazón.

From 2009 to 2016, Dr. Olmo served as Research Activities Coordinator for the STEMmED I and *STEMmED || projects. He later served as Principal Investigator of the *SUCCESS* project, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), from 2019 to 2022.
He currently serves on the Systemic Committee of the Puerto Rico Board of Examiners for Chemists, where he contributes to reviewing licensure examination questions in analytical chemistry.

His professional interests include the teaching of chemistry and mathematics. Personally, he enjoys fitness and wellness, cinema, music -he has played the piano as a hobby for many years- and cooking.
