The professor holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialty in Mental Health and Psychiatry from the School of Nursing of the Medical Sciences Campus of the University of Puerto Rico. Currently, she is working on her doctoral thesis entitled “Teaching Strategies and Methods to Promote Empathy in Nursing Students: A Mixed Complementary Study.” She also serves as the project director for the HRSA grant, which provides funding to students from disadvantaged backgrounds to ensure their education and graduation and increase diversity in the health professions and nursing workforce.Lourdes Ramos Ramos is an assistant professor in the Nursing Program of the Department of Natural Sciences. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Nursing Science from the School of Nursing of the Medical Sciences Campus of the University of Puerto Rico and a Master's degree in Nursing Science with a specialty in Mental Health and Psychiatry from the School of Nursing of the Medical Sciences Campus of the University of Puerto Rico. Throughout her professional career, she has excelled in various roles within her specialty, from direct care in a Psychiatric Emergency Room in the United States to Director of Nursing at a private psychiatric hospital. She has been an evaluator at the Board of Post-Secondary Institutions. She collaborates with the Dr. Ramón Fernández Marina Hospital (State Psychiatry) offering training to staff and with the Department of Health in health promotion activities.
