The Society of Sagrado Corazón Jesus, through his congregation in Puerto Rico, has the responsibility of guiding the Sofia Center (University Pastoral) in its mission of theological reflection, accompaniment, social action and volunteering at the university.
Sister Madeline Ortiz Rivera, rscj, who supports this effort as the Society's representative in SagradoShe holds master's degrees in Theology and Biblical Studies, both from the Dominican Center for Caribbean Studies at the Central University of Bayamón. She also completed studies in Philosophy and Social Sciences at the Jesuit Institute of Philosophy and Social Sciences in Guadalajara, Mexico. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Inter-American University, Barranquitas Campus. She also holds a certification in Human Sexuality from the University of Puerto Rico.
She has conducted pastoral teaching, including workshops on spirituality, self-esteem, gender perspective, self-knowledge, Christian faith, and sociology, all offered in both Puerto Rico and Mexico. She has also participated in courses and certification programs in Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, and Peru.
She has extensive experience working in and integrating into impoverished communities and has collaborated on community-based educational projects and holistic development programs for young people. These experiences have made her a distinguished member of our university community.
