Academic Leader of Creative Writing


Mara Pastor is a Puerto Rican poet, editor, and professor. Pastor is the author of several poetry collections, including Birth Debt (The University of Arizona Press, 2021), translated by María José Giménez and Anna Rosenwong, which was selected for the 2020 Ambroggio Prize awarded by The Academy of American Poets. As editor, she prepared the selection and the prologue for the anthology At all costs: recent Puerto Rican narrative (Elefanta Editorial, 2018). She holds a bachelor's degree in Hispanic Studies from the University of Puerto Rico, a master's degree in Literature from the University of Notre Dame, and a doctorate in Literature from the University of Michigan. Recently, her poems have appeared in magazines such as leopard, Latin American Literature Today y World Literature Today, among others. She is currently a professor and academic leader of the Creative Writing and Literature Program at the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón Heart.
