Music production is an activity within the music ecosystem that allows for the creation of creative projects through recording. It requires an integrated knowledge of musical, technical and market aspects in order to be able to capture artistic works in tangible or digital media.
This minor concentration allows the student to have a basic foundation to explore this discipline within music. The minor concentration requires courses in the fundamentals of performance and music theory, and then integrates this knowledge into practical courses in sound recording and editing.
Changes in the digital environment and the entertainment world have expanded the value of creative content on media platforms. In recent years, business models in music have shifted toward digital, requiring artists to generate musical works with the level of quality and innovation that audiences expect. Beyond talent in composition and instrumental performance, music professionals need to understand how creative processes translate into musical pieces, whether for audiovisual production, video games, music platforms, or social media. This minor will serve to expand the professional opportunities for students interested in developing in the entertainment world.
