The tourism industry, also framed within the visitor economy, has stood out as a great opportunity for economic growth for Puerto Rico.
This industry has large ramifications that are part of the ecosystem, including hospitality, food and beverage, special events, logistics, marketing and promotion of the destination and public policies and legislation, among others.
Tourism is intertwined with culture, agriculture, natural resources, communications, the environment, and internationalization. For this reason, the minor offers an opportunity to engage with this important industry. The program comprises 12 credits and includes topics such as the visitor economy landscape, destination branding and management, as well as trends, challenges, and opportunities.
Experiences of the program
- The program has a very active student association in activities inside and outside the University.
- The courses include practical experiences with entities and companies in the tourism sector.
