Nurys M. Pacheco, Ed.D., MSN, BSN, is a faculty member in the Nursing Program within the School of Health and Sciences at Universidad del Sagrado Corazón. She teaches medical-surgical nursing, online education, and curriculum development. She holds a Doctor of Education in Instructional Technology and Distance Education from Nova Southeastern University, a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Gerontology from Caribbean University, a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from Universidad Metropolitana, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Dr. Pacheco has more than 25 years of professional experience in nursing and higher education. Her background includes university teaching, coordination of clinical learning experiences, and professional practice in operating room nursing, intensive surgery, and dermatology. Her academic expertise focuses on instructional design, online education, active learning, clinical reasoning, and curriculum enhancement in nursing education.
She is actively involved in curriculum review, the Nursing Program's 2030 reaccreditation process with the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and the development of online courses in Canvas, particularly for Medical-Surgical Nursing 1 and II. She has also led initiatives in curriculum alignment, the development and assessment of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs), and the enhancement of online and hybrid learning experiences.
Dr. Pacheco holds certifications in online education, instructional design, Quality Matters, Effective Teaching through the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE), and digital competency. She has also completed extensive professional development in artificial intelligence for education and active learning methodologies.
Her scholarly interests include integrating technology into nursing education, distance learning, critical thinking, and educational innovation in the health sciences. She has published articles on online education and aging, including contributions to Impulso addressing the impact of COVID-19 on older adults and the challenges of virtual nursing education. She is a member of the Puerto Rico College of Nursing Professionals and Kappa Delta Pi, the International Honor Society in Education.
