Gabriel Paizy Damiani, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Ferré Rangel School of Communication at Universidad del Sagrado Corazón. He holds a Ph.D. in the History of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean from the Center for Advanced Studies of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, a Master's degree in Public Relations from Universidad del Sagrado Corazón, and a Bachelor's degree in Advertising from Syracuse University, where he graduated cum laude. He is a licensed public relations professional certified by the Puerto Rico Department of State.
Since 1996, Dr. Paizy has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in writing, advertising, public relations, strategic communication, and communication theory. He served as Dean of the Ferré Rangel School of Communication from 2017 to 2024 and as Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Communication from 2007 to 2017.
He has supervised numerous master's theses and doctoral dissertations on topics related to public relations, advertising, and media representation. He is also the author of En buen español: 50 ideas para vivir mejor (2025), Habla y redacta en buen español (revised and expanded edition, 2024), and En buen español: El libro de las curiosidades de nuestro idioma (2020). Since 2018, he has written a weekly column for the Puerto Rican newspaper Primera Hora. Professor Paizy is a sought-after speaker and workshop facilitator both locally and internationally, having delivered more than 250 presentations for educational institutions, professional organizations, private companies, and government agencies. His work promoting the Spanish language has also reached audiences through Puerto Rican radio and television via the segment "En buen español".
